Army organises Deepawali celebration with locals in Ganderbal

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar:- Army on the occasion of Deepawali organises a Deepawali celebration with locals in Ganderbal.

In continuation with Indian Army’s tradition of Sarva Dharma Sama Bhava and to promote religious harmony in the valley, Wussan Battalion organised Deepawali Celebration with the locals.

An official Told the Press Trust of Kashmir, that Deepawali celebrations are a five days affair, which starts with Dhan Trayodasi, celebrated to worship Lord Dhanvantari, who’s considered to be lord of Health. On the second day Nark Chaturdashi is celebrated, it is said that lord Krishna killed Narkasur on this day.

Deepawali is celebrated on third day of the celebrations, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana on this day. Gobardhan Puja is celebrated on the fourth day of the celebrations, it is believed that Lord Krishna lifted Gobardhan Mountain on his little finger on this day, and broke the arrogance of Lord Indra, King of gods, he said.

Bhaiya Duj is celebrated on the fifth day of the celebrations, Lord Yama visited his sister Goddess Yamuna on this day and it is believed that, if a brother visits his sister on this day attains Moksha, considered to be the ultimate aim of a person in Hindutva, he added.

 

The Deepawali celebrations started with special arti in praise of Lord Rama.

Candles and diyas were lit, which are considered to be auspicious, he said.

 

Thereafter, sweets and snacks were served to the gathering, prepared specifically for the occasion, he said.

 

The celebration was attended by locals from all the communities. The locals were full of praises for the Indian Army for its belief in the concept of Sarva Dharma Sama Bhava and for organizing the celebrations, he added further

 

Meanwhile students of the area said that they have celebrated Deepawali like Eid first time and have experienced what deepawali is.:-PTK
