Transportation of Bovine Animals Restricted in Jammu District
PTK NEWS DESK
JAMMU: In a bid to regulate the transportation of bovine animals, the District Magistrate of Jammu has invoked Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), issuing stringent directives prohibiting the movement of cows, buffaloes, oxen, bulls, calves, and other such animals from Jammu to other districts without prior written authorization.
The order stipulates that individuals seeking to transport bovine animals must obtain written permission either from the District Magistrate of Jammu or the Additional District Magistrate, subject to specific conditions imposed by the District Magistrate’s office.
Effective immediately, the order is slated to remain in force for a duration of two months from the date of its issuance or until further notice, whichever occurs earlier.
This move underscores the administration’s efforts to regulate the transportation of bovine animals, potentially addressing concerns related to illegal cattle trade and ensuring the welfare and safety of these animals.
The imposition of such regulatory measures reflects the proactive approach of the authorities in maintaining law and order while upholding the interests of both the community and the livestock.
