KVK-Anantnag, DARS, SKUAST-K organise Awareness-cum-Seed Distribution Programme under HADP.
ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 28(PTK): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Anantnag, in collaboration with the Dryland Agriculture Research Station (DARS), Rangreth, SKUAST-Kashmir, organised an Awareness-cum-Seed Distribution Programme under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), witnessing enthusiastic participation from a large gathering of farmers.
The programme was organised in alignment with the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Rabi-2026) to promote scientific crop management, improve agricultural productivity and encourage the adoption of improved cultivation practices.
During the programme, 15 quintals of seed were distributed among more than 60 farmers under HADP Project 1, Seed Development and Seed Multiplication Chain in PPP Mode, and Project 28, Development of Fodder Resources for the UT of J&K.
Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Head, KVK-Anantnag, highlighted the importance of quality seed, improved technologies and scientific farming practices in enhancing productivity and farmers’ income. He emphasised the role of HADP and institutional collaboration in strengthening agricultural and allied sectors.
Dr. Sabia Akhter, Scientist (Agronomy), DARS, SKUAST-Kashmir, delivered a lecture on the scientific cultivation of oats, covering sowing time, seed rate, sowing methods, nutrient management and other essential agronomic practices for improving fodder yield and quality.
The programme facilitated interaction between scientists and farmers and reinforced the importance of quality seed and scientific cultivation. It was also highlighted that KVK-Anantnag had earlier distributed 30 quintals of fodder seed under HADP Project 28, further contributing to fodder resource development and sustainable livestock production in the district.
The programme reaffirmed the commitment of KVK-Anantnag and DARS, SKUAST-Kashmir, to farmer-oriented extension initiatives in alignment with HADP and the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Rabi-2026).(PTK)
