The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken action against Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee in Shopian, along with several others, for alleged misappropriation of funds. The case, registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC, stems from a thorough verification process.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the Municipal Committee in Shopian had procured an Ashoka Leyland BS-IV Tipper through the GeM Portal in 2018. However, discrepancies arose when it was found that fuel consumption figures had been inflated, with the committee allegedly issuing 11,051 litres of fuel from January 2018 to March 2020 based on exaggerated consumption rates.

Further scrutiny revealed that a committee, spearheaded by the Executive Officer, had arbitrarily fixed a fuel consumption rate of 11 litres per hour for the Tipper. However, upon examination by the Mechanical Engineering Department, it was determined that the actual rate was only 3 litres per hour. This stark contrast resulted in an alleged misappropriation of 8 litres of fuel per hour, amounting to the aforementioned 11,051 litres over the specified period. Additionally, fuel amounting to 3566 litres was allegedly issued for a Tipper that was already out of service, leading to further financial irregularities.

Following the registration of the case, lawful searches were conducted at the residences of the accused across various locations. During these searches, pertinent documents related to the investigation were seized, aiding in the ongoing probe.

The investigation into this matter continues as the J&K ACB diligently works to uphold transparency and combat corruption within the region.
