Indian Navy and NCB Collaborate to Apprehend Drug-Laden Boat Off Gujarat Coast

NEW DELHI (PTK) : In a recent operation, the Indian Navy, in conjunction with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), intercepted a suspicious boat off the coast of Gujarat, seizing over 3,000 kg of drugs. This marks the largest drug seizure in recent times, according to a statement from the Indian Navy.

The apprehended vessel was intercepted near the International Maritime Boundary Line in the Arabian Sea. The confiscated contraband, weighing nearly 3,300 kg, included 3089 kg of charas, 158 kg of methamphetamine, and 25 kg of morphine. Both the boat and its crew were handed over to law enforcement agencies at an Indian port on February 27.

The successful operation was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Indian Navy’s mission-deployed assets and the NCB. The interception was based on intelligence gathered by P8I LRMR aircraft during surveillance missions.

This significant seizure underscores the commitment of the Indian Navy and law enforcement agencies to combat narcotics trafficking in India’s maritime domain. The coordinated response reflects a resolute stance against the illicit drug trade, safeguarding the nation’s interests and maritime security.
