ADDC Shopian Reviews Progress of Jal Jeevan Mission, Directs Timely Completion of Remaining Works
Shopian, June 9 (PTK): Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, on Monday chaired a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) to review the implementation and progress of various Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes being executed across the district.
The meeting was held at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian, and focused on assessing the status of ongoing water supply projects aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water to households under the flagship programme.
During the meeting, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Division Shopian, Abdul Rashid Wani, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the achievements, progress and milestones of the ongoing schemes in the district.
Officials informed the meeting that 121 infrastructure works have been successfully completed under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Shopian district so far, significantly strengthening the drinking water supply network in the region.
Reviewing the pace of implementation, the ADDC directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to expedite the completion of the remaining projects so that they can be dedicated to the public within the stipulated timeframe.
Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone instructed Executive Engineers to closely monitor all project sites, particularly those where progress has slowed, and ensure that pending works are accelerated while maintaining the highest standards of quality and execution.
He emphasized the need for regular field inspections and effective supervision to avoid delays and ensure timely completion of all components of the mission.
The ADDC further directed the Executive Engineers of both the Civil and Mechanical Wings to maintain seamless coordination and work in close collaboration to accelerate project implementation and ensure that all remaining works are completed well before the target year of 2028.
He reiterated the district administration’s commitment to achieving the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission and ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water for every household in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers of PHE and Mechanical Divisions, Awantipora, Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), Assistant Engineers (AEs), Junior Engineers (JEs) and other concerned officials.
