Army Opens Fire On Pakistani Drone In Jammu And Kashmir’s Poonch
Mendhar/Jammu : Indian Army troops stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) took swift action as they fired nearly two dozen rounds at a Pakistani drone that breached Indian territory in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the drone managed to return to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) after briefly hovering over forward Indian posts in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sectors.
The incident occurred late Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from security forces. Reports reaching the News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir revealed that a search operation was initiated to ensure no illicit activities, such as airdropping of weapons or narcotics, were conducted by the drone.
“The operation was on when the last reports were received,” officials confirmed.
Additionally, troops deployed near the LoC in the Sarla area of the Poonch sector observed suspicious movement on Tuesday night, leading them to open fire as a precautionary measure. Following the incident, a thorough search was conducted in the area, but no evidence of wrongdoing was found on the ground.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region and emphasizes the importance of maintaining vigilance along the LoC to prevent any potential threats to national security.
