Army organises awareness camp, distributes biodegradable bags to taxi drivers under SBA

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR OCT 03:- Army organises awareness camp, distributes biodegradable bags to taxi drivers under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
An official said that today Indian Army in coordination with civil administration and shakoor foundation in Dawar organised an awareness campaign and *distributed bio degradable bags to all drivers of sumo taxi association, Gurez.
They have been asked to create awareness and guide their customers and tourists on waste management and keep Gurez Valley clean, he added.
With help of the bio degradable bags they can ask the tourists to put their garbage in the bio degradable bags and eventually these bags will be disposed at the designated waste management plant by the drivers, he said.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management, he said.
The event was attended by the BDO, President Sumo taxi association and team of the Shakoor foundation, he added.
Shakoor foundation is a NGO in Gurez which works on issues such as conservation, women empowerment and education, he said.
The events was appreciated by all and thanked the Indian Army for organising the event, he added.
