Man accused of raping a minor girl arrested in eight hours :- Police
Cooperation of community members must to curb social crimes

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR SEP 12:- A person accused of raping a minor in Srinagar was arrested by police within eight hours in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
A police official said that On the intervening night 10/11-09.2022, at around 1:25 AM Police Station Lal Bazar received a written complaint from the father of a minor girl (name withheld) stating that she was raped by one person namely Wahid Sofi resident Gulshanbagh, Lalbazar Srinagar.
On receiving this complaint, a case FIR No. 53/2022 US 376 IPC 3/4 POCSO Act was registered in Police Station Lalbazar and investigation was set into motion, he said.

During the course of investigation, a Police Party of Police Station Lal Bazar acting swiftly, arrested the accused person involved in the crime who is under custody, he said,adding , urther investigation in the matter is going on.
Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighborhood, police said, adding, they can share information pertaining to social crimes with police through JKeCop app as well as through Women Helpline Number 9596770601 besides that we assure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue.
