Police arrests drug peddler in Sopore, contraband substance recovered

Press Trust Of Kashmir August 12: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Spore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Sopore during naka checking at Adipora Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS intercepted a person identified as Safeer Ahmad Lone son of Habib-ul-lah Lone resident of Adipora Sopore. During search, 15grms of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 171/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation set into motion.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sopore Police has registered 48 NDPS cases during the current year 2022.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
