Kashmir: Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Shah Faesal likely to remain in detention, govt mulls use of PSA

Srinagar: The government is likely to keep Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, both former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir state — now bifurcated — in detention in Srinagar, sources said on February 5.

Abdullah, 49, and Mufti, 60, were detained in August, when the government annnounced its hugely controversial decision to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status — and with it, a provision limiting property rights in the region.

The government is also likely to keep former IAS officer Shah Faesal, now a politician, under detention, the sources said.
