2 IEDs, detected, defused in Jammu

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR NOV 15:- Two IEDs were detected and later defused in Jammu, officials said on Tuesday.

An official said that late last evening police recovered a backpack lying ‘suspiciously’ close to a police post in Satwari area of Jammu district.

He said that a patrolling party of police post Phallian Mandal of Satwari in Jammu late evening found a black coloured backpack lying in a suspicious manner adjacent to the post.

“The area was cordoned and technical team has been called in for examination of the suspicious bag,” he said.

Upon searching two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with timer were found, which were later defused and their recovery has averted a major tragedy.

He said case (FIR No. 211/2022) under section 4/5 explosives act 18/20 UAP Act has been registered in this regard. “Investigation has been taken up and police is working to nab the accused involved in it.”
