10-Day Summer Break for Kashmir Schools from July 1: Edu Minister Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, June 19 (PTK): Amid an ongoing heatwave, Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday announced a 10-day summer vacation for all government and private schools across the Kashmir division, effective from July 1 to July 10.

Speaking exclusively to PTK News, the minister said, “In view of the severe heatwave, summer vacation for schools in Kashmir division will be from July 01 to July 10.”

She further added that the government will monitor the weather conditions and decide on any extension of the vacation based on the situation after July 10.
“After July 10, we will review the weather conditions and take the call of extension of vacation accordingly,” Itoo said.

In addition to the vacation announcement, changes in school timings have also been made. “From Saturday, the school timing in Srinagar municipality limits will be from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and for schools outside the municipality limits, the timings will be 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM,” the minister informed.

The decision comes as a relief for students and parents amid soaring temperatures that have disrupted daily routines across the region. (PTK)
