Two militants killed in ongoing Kupwara encounter

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar :  Two militants have been killed in ongoing gunfight in Lolab area of Kupwara district, police said on Sunday.

A police official said that a joint team of Police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Lolab area following specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the forces intensified the searches, militant hiding in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight, they said.

They added that two militants have been while as one or two militants are trapped as well.

“KupwaraPolice launched a joint Anti-militant #operation alongwith Army’s 28RR on the disclosure of an arrested militant Showket Ahmed Sheikh in Lolab area of #Kupwara.” Kashmir Police Zone tweeted.
