Tragic Incident Claims Life of Minor in South Kashmir as Boy Drowns in River Jhelum

SRINAGAR : A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district as a minor boy lost his life after drowning in the river Jhelum on Wednesday afternoon, officials reported.

According to the Press Trust of Kashmir, the victim, identified as 6-year-old Salil Ahmad Dar, son of Latif Ahmad Dar and a resident of Gadhanjipora, Bijbehara, tragically drowned in the river in his hometown.

Authorities stated that the boy was swiftly evacuated from the scene and rushed to the SDH Bijbehara for medical assistance. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival.

The local police have initiated an investigation into the incident, taking cognizance of the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning.
