Three Workers Swept Away by Jhelum River in Uri

URI : Three workers are feared to have been swept away by the surging waters of the Jhelum River while carrying out demolition work on an old bridge in Uri, Baramulla district.

The recent heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir has led to a significant rise in the water level of the Jhelum River, posing increased risks to those working near its banks. Despite the adverse conditions, several workers were engaged in the crucial task of demolishing the deteriorating bridge located in Mohura Uri.

Tragically, it is believed that during this operation, three workers met with a harrowing fate as they were reportedly swept away by the forceful currents of the Jhelum River. Eyewitnesses recount the heart-wrenching moment when the trio disappeared into the turbulent waters, leaving bystanders shocked and helpless.

“The fear and uncertainty surrounding their fate have gripped the community, with many claiming to have witnessed the tragic incident firsthand,” shared a local resident.

As authorities rush to the scene to assess the situation and coordinate rescue efforts, the grim reality of the situation looms large. A police official offered a somber reflection on the ongoing efforts, stating, “In the face of such adversity, it is difficult to provide definitive answers or assurances. We are working tirelessly to gather information and respond effectively to this tragedy.”
