Srinagar, Aug 29: Security forces neutralized three terrorists in two separate encounters in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday evening, according to official reports.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the 57 Rashtriya Rifles and 53 Infantry Brigade launched an operation in the Kamkari area of the Machil sector. At around 7:40 PM, the movement of infiltrating terrorists was detected, leading to a brief but intense firefight. In this operation, two terrorists were believed to have been killed, though their bodies are yet to be recovered. The operation is ongoing, officials confirmed.
In a parallel operation in the Tangdhar area of Kupwara, security forces launched another anti-infiltration drive based on intelligence inputs. One terrorist is suspected to have been neutralized in this operation, with searches continuing in the region.
The Indian Army’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed the operations, stating, “A joint anti-infiltration operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the intervening night of August 28-29 in the Tangdhar area. One terrorist is likely to have been neutralized.”
