SIU Kulgam Files Chargesheet Against 04 Terrorists

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Kulgam has produced a chargesheet against four terrorists in connection with case FIR No 65/2022 of Police Station Kulgam.

The chargesheet, filed before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge (Designated Court under NIA) Kulgam, names four accused terrorists: Jan Mohammad Lone, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Sameer Ahmad Sheikh, and Abid Ramzan Sheikh.

These individuals, residents of various areas in Shopian district, are alleged members of proscribed terrorist outfits LeT/TRF and Al-Badr.

The charges stem from an incident on 2nd June 2022 when the accused terrorists conspired and carried out an attack, resulting in the tragic killing of Branch Manager Vijay Kumar of Ellaqhai Dehati Bank in Arreh Kulgam. Vijay Kumar, a resident of Bagwa Rajasthan, fell victim to their violence, perpetrated with illegally acquired weapons.

Following due process, the SIU Kulgam presented the chargesheet before the NIA Court Kulgam under various sections, including 452, 302 IPC, 7/27 I.A. Act, 16, 18, 20, and 38 UA (P) Act of Police Station Kulgam.

The chargesheet primarily focuses on three eliminated accused terrorists, Jan Mohammad Lone, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, and Sameer Ahmad Sheikh, while Abid Ramzan Sheikh, the active terrorist, faces charges under relevant sections.

Investigations continue into the involvement of another accused, Arjumand Gulzar @Hamza Burhan, an active terrorist of Al-Badr, who is currently absconding. Supplementary reports will be submitted before the Hon’ble Court as the investigation progresses.

The chargesheet marks a significant step in the fight against terrorism, highlighting the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of the region’s residents.
