Season’s First Snowfall Recorded in Gulmarg, Kashmir

PTK MONITORING DESK

Srinagar: Affarwat, the famous ski resort in Gulmarg, witnessed its first snowfall of the season, marking an early sign of winter in north Kashmir. The area recorded about 2 inches of snow since early this morning, an official confirmed.

Alongside the snowfall, various parts of Jammu and Kashmir experienced fresh rainfall, which brought much-needed relief after nearly five days of heat wave conditions. The drop in temperature was felt across the region.

Independent weather forecaster, Faizan Arif Keng, predicted generally cloudy weather across Jammu and Kashmir with intermittent rain likely in some areas. “Sunny breaks are possible in a few locations, but another rain spell is expected towards night and early morning tomorrow,” Keng said.

He also cautioned against heavy showers in Jammu’s plains, though the weather is expected to improve by tomorrow. Following this, dry conditions are likely to prevail until October 4, with night temperatures set to drop significantly.
