Sakeena Itoo Strengthens Healthcare, Education Infrastructure in Beerwah Constituency
Inaugurates Advanced Laparoscopy Units, Lays Foundation Stones for Key Development Projects
Budgam, June 11 (PTK): Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo, on Wednesday inaugurated several healthcare facilities and laid foundation stones for major education infrastructure projects during her tour of the Beerwah constituency in Budgam district.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Beerwah Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, senior officers from the Health & Medical Education Department, School Education Department, Higher Education Department and district administration.
During the visit, Sakeena Itoo inaugurated a state-of-the-art Laparoscopy Unit at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Magam, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local population. The facility is expected to enhance access to specialized surgical services and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the district for advanced medical treatment.
The Minister also inaugurated a Laparoscopy Unit at Sub-District Hospital Beerwah, aimed at providing affordable and minimally invasive surgical care to patients at the grassroots level and strengthening healthcare delivery in the constituency.
In the education sector, the Minister laid the foundation stone for a dedicated Administrative Block at Government Degree College (GDC) Magam, which is expected to improve academic administration and expand institutional infrastructure.
She also laid the foundation stone for a modern Auditorium Hall at Government Degree College Beerwah, which will serve as a platform for academic, cultural and co-curricular activities of students.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment towards strengthening school education infrastructure, Sakeena Itoo laid the foundation stone for the new building of Government High School Rathsun, Beerwah, aimed at providing improved educational facilities and a better learning environment for students.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to equitable and balanced development across Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that healthcare and education remain key pillars of public welfare.
She said sustained efforts are being made to ensure that modern facilities and quality services reach every corner of the Union Territory and stressed the need for strengthening public institutions to meet the growing aspirations of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Beerwah Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani expressed gratitude to the Minister for prioritizing key developmental initiatives in the constituency. He said the projects would significantly benefit the local population and assured close monitoring to ensure their timely completion.
During the visit, the Minister also interacted with public delegations, civil society representatives and youth groups, taking first-hand feedback on various developmental and public service issues. She directed the concerned officers to address genuine grievances on priority and ensure efficient service delivery.(PTK)
