Sakeena Itoo Inaugurates Digital X-Ray, Thyroid Analyser at PHC Parigam; Reviews Key Health Projects in Pulwama
Pulwama, May 05 (PTK): Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Tuesday undertook an extensive visit to Pampore constituency in Pulwama and reviewed progress on major public utility and healthcare projects.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi, Director School Education Kashmir Naseer Ahmad Wani, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Jehangir Bhakshi, and other senior officers.
During the visit, she inaugurated a state-of-the-art Digital X-Ray unit and a Thyroid Analyser at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Parigam. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
She highlighted that the introduction of advanced diagnostic facilities will enhance early detection and timely treatment of diseases, reducing the burden on tertiary care hospitals and minimising the need for patients to travel long distances. She reiterated the government’s focus on equipping peripheral health institutions with modern technology and adequate manpower to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all.
The Minister also inspected facilities at PHC Parigam and interacted with medical staff and local residents to assess on-ground healthcare delivery.
Later, she visited Kakapora and reviewed progress on the under-construction 50-bedded hospital. She directed executing agencies to expedite the work while maintaining quality standards, stressing that timely completion will significantly improve healthcare access in the area.
Sakeena Itoo also inspected the proposed site for a 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital and Yoga Training Centre at Ratnipora. She emphasised the importance of traditional medicine systems and holistic wellness, noting that the facility will promote preventive healthcare, wellness tourism and community well-being through AYUSH practices and yoga.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Minister assured that all necessary steps will be taken to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure quality medical services reach people at their doorsteps across the region.(PTK)
