Jammu, June 19: In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) believed to be the prime suspect in providing logistical support to militants for the Reasi Yatra bus attack.

Official sources revealed that the arrest marks a key development in Case FIR No- 31/2024 under sections 302/307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, and sections 16/18/20 of the UAPA, registered at Police Station Pouni. This case pertains to the terrorist attack on a pilgrim bus returning from Shiv Khori on June 9.

The suspect, identified as Hakam Din (40), son of M.A. Khan and a resident of Bandhrahi (Saida Nallha) in District Rajouri, was apprehended by Jammu & Kashmir Police in Reasi. Authorities stated that Din had repeatedly harbored militants, providing them with food, shelter, and guidance, and played a crucial role in helping them reach the attack site.

Din is alleged to have been instrumental in the execution of the attack, which saw militants target a bus carrying pilgrims from the Ransoo area of Reasi. The attack caused the bus driver to lose control, resulting in the bus plunging into a deep gorge near Kanda in Pouni. Tragically, the incident led to the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 41 others.

The arrest of Hakam Din underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to dismantle militant networks and bring those responsible for such heinous acts to justice.
