Prosthetic aid distribution camp held at Rajouri

Government committed to welfare of specially-abled persons: DC

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR RAJOURI, AUGUST 01: To ease the problems of the specially-abled persons, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today distributed different prosthetic aids among 35 specially abled persons here at a camp organised by the Social Welfare Department.

Interacting with the beneficiaries, the DDC said that the Government was committed to ensure their welfare, and a number of measures are being taken to enable them to lead a dignified life in the society.

He also highlighted various measures being taken by the Government for the welfare of specially-abled persons, including financial assistance in the shape of pension, free education, free medical treatment, vocational programmes etc and maintained that a large number of people in this category are availing these benefits.

The DSWO informed that the prosthetic aids distributed   included walking sticks, crutches, hearing aids, tricycles, wheelchairs etc.

“1500 more specially abled identified persons will be covered in coming days”, the DSWO informed.
