Police Attach Properties Worth ₹1.2 Crore of Drug Peddlers in Anantnag

Anantnag, April 11 (PTK): In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police in Anantnag have attached properties worth approximately ₹1.2 crore belonging to individuals involved in multiple drug-related cases across the district.

In a significant move under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, authorities attached a single-storey residential house along with one kanal of land at Sallar, Anantnag. The property, valued at ₹70 lakhs, belongs to Bashir Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Aziz Wani, a resident of Sallar. He is implicated in Case FIR No. 65/2018 of Police Station Srigufwara, which pertains to the recovery of a substantial quantity of poppy straw.

In another major development, under Case FIR No. 35/2025 U/S 8/20-29 NDPS Act of Police Station Bijbehara, police seized a residential house and a vehicle (Regd. No. JK02AV-1235) belonging to Tajdar Amin Khan, son of Mohd Amin Khan, a resident of Goriwan Bijbehara (currently residing in Karewa Colony Bijbehara). Additionally, a shopping complex owned by Bilal Ahmad Itoo, son of Ghulam Hassan Itoo, resident of Gund Nasir, Bijbehara, was also attached.

Further, under Case FIR No. 213/2024 U/S 8/15-29 NDPS Act of Police Station Bijbehara, another vehicle (Regd. No. HR16L-3657) was seized. The vehicle is registered to Harjinder Singh, son of Gurdiyal Singh, a resident of Mubarak Pur, Kapurthala (Punjab).

The combined estimated market value of all the seized assets in these cases is pegged at ₹1.2 crore.

These stringent actions underscore the police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug traffickers. By targeting assets acquired through illegal means, the authorities aim to disrupt the operations of those involved in the drug trade. The police have also urged the public to remain alert and report any drug-related activities in their areas, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. —(PTK)
