Police arrests drug peddler in Anantnag; Contraband substance recovered

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | ANANTANG : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Officers from Police Station Kokernag at a checkpoint established at Watnard Kokernag intercepted a vehicle (Load carrier) bearing registration number JK03D-3168 driven by one person identified as Fayaz Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Khalil Lone resident of Guri Hanjipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 550 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 120/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kokernag and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace..(PTK)

Kulgam Police solved 02 hit and run cases; Accused persons arrested

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | KULGAM : Kulgam police solved 02 hit and run cases and arrested the accused persons involved in the commission of crime.

Police Station Qazigund received information that three persons riding on a motorcycle were hit by unknown vehicle at Gundipora Qazigund resulting on spot death of two persons namely Nisar Ahmad Thokar and Javid Ahmad Thokar both the sons of Abdul Gani Thokar residents of Sopat Tengpora. However the injured person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Rasool Najar resident of Sopat Tangpora was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle namely Bilal Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Nabi Wani resident of Chamalvas Banihal was arrested and the vehicle bearing registration number JK01F-8968 was also seized. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Meanwhile in another incident, Police Station Qaimoh received information that a vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AB-0099 hit and injured three pedestrians namely Rumeena Jan, Mubeena Akther and Jasim Mohammad Dar all the residents of Gufbal Qaimoh. The injured persons were immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the vehicle namely Ghulam Jeelani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Firdous Colony Buchpora Srinagar was arrested and the vehicle involved in the commission of offence has also been seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant section of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigation have been initiated. Community members have applauded the strenuous efforts of Police for solving both cases.

Police seeks public cooperation to mitigate spread of virus

Press trust of kashmir | Srinagar : Continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of 2nd wave of Coronavirus, during the last 24 hours Police have lodged 02 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹8,49,940/- from 5674 people throughout the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19.

The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.

Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/protocols for their own safety and for the safety of others. The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.(PTK)
