PDP President Mehbooba Mufti released

Sarinagar OCT,13 (PTK) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has been released after nearly 14 months of detention, government said on Tuesday.

“Ms. Mehbooba Mufti being released,” Rohit Kansal, government spokesman said in a tweet.

Sources said that the government revoked her PSA detention order of February 5 which was extended by three months on 31-7-2020.

Mehbooba was among hundreds of people detained in 2019 to prevent protests against the Government of India’s move to divest J&K of its special status through the nullification of the Constitution’s Article 370 and to divide state into two Union territories.

As per govt order, in exercise of powers conferred under section 19(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978, the Government hereby revokes the detention order bearing No. DMS PSA/ 147/ 2020 dated 05-02-2020
issued by District Magistrate. Srinagar, which was last extended for a period of
three months vide Govermment Order No. Home/PB-V 1449 of 2020 dated 311-07-2020 of Ms. Mehbooba Mufti Dlo Late Mufti Mohd Sayed R/o Bijbehara A/P Nowgam, Srinagar, with immediate effect.(PTK)
