Omar Abdullah-Led Cabinet Approves ₹93 Crore Power Infrastructure Projects for Srinagar
Srinagar, May 15 (PTK): The Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved major power infrastructure projects worth around ₹93 crore aimed at strengthening electricity transmission and improving power reliability in Srinagar and adjoining areas.
The approvals were accorded during the sixth meeting of the Council of Ministers.
According to officials, the Cabinet approved augmentation of the Zainakote Grid Sub Station from 450 MVA to 780 MVA at an estimated cost of ₹67.66 crore.
The Council also approved the upgradation of the 132 KV Pampore-Rawalpora and Rawalpora-Bemina transmission lines at a cost of ₹25.47 crore.
The projects are expected to significantly strengthen the power infrastructure in Srinagar by enhancing transmission capacity, reducing power interruptions and ensuring a more efficient electricity supply for consumers.
Officials said the augmentation of the Zainakote Grid Station along with the transmission line upgrades would improve overall grid stability and help meet the increasing electricity demand in the region, particularly during peak load periods.
The government said the projects form part of its broader efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve public utility services across Jammu and Kashmir.(PTK)
