NIA Apprehends Juvenile in Dhangri Rajouri Terrorist Attack
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a juvenile into custody for his involvement in harboring terrorists responsible for the heinous killing of five civilians in Dhangri village, district Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, in January last year.
According to reports from the Press Trust of Kashmir, the juvenile, previously lodged at the Observation Home in R.S.Pura, Jammu, in connection with another case registered at Police Station Gursai, Mendhar, District Poonch, was arrested by the NIA and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, Rajouri, for remand.
The brutal terrorist attack occurred on January 1, 2023, resulting in the tragic deaths of five individuals from the minority Hindu community and severe injuries to several others. Initially registered as FIR no. 01/2023 at PS Rajouri under various sections of the IPC, UA (P) Act 1967, and Arms Act, the case was taken over and re-registered by the NIA on January 13.
NIA investigations unveiled the role of the apprehended juvenile, alongside two previously arrested individuals, Nisar Ahmed @ Haji Nisar and Mushtaq Hussain @ Chacha, in harboring the terrorists responsible for the attack. Nisar Ahmed and Mushtaq Hussain were apprehended by the NIA on August 31, 2023, and are currently incarcerated at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The duo provided logistical support to the terrorists for over two months, sheltering them in a hideout constructed on the instructions of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) handlers, namely Saifullah @ Sajid Jutt, Abu Qatal @ Qatal Sindhi, and Mohd. Qasim.
NIA officials, tirelessly working in the hilly terrain of Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts of J & K, pursued the investigation, scrutinizing numerous suspicious entities before narrowing down on the accused individuals involved in providing logistical support to the terrorists.
The investigation remains ongoing as the NIA continues to unravel the complexities surrounding the perpetrators of this heinous offense.
