Mian Altaf Ahmad Is Not An Outsider: Omar Abdullah
PTK News Desk
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah passionately defended Mian Altaf Ahmad’s candidacy for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat, dismissing claims that Ahmad is an “outsider” to the constituency. Abdullah drew parallels with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral practices, highlighting that leaders often contest from constituencies beyond their native regions.
Abdullah criticized media outlets for attempting to sow discord between his party and the PDP, emphasizing the collaborative stance of the opposition INDIA bloc. He refuted suggestions that the National Conference’s decision to contest all three seats in Kashmir was influenced by external pressures, citing past electoral victories as the basis for strategic decisions.
On the issue of electoral bonds, Abdullah stressed the importance of holding the government accountable and questioned the motives behind corporate contributions to political campaigns. He also expressed concern over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, cautioning against the use of investigative agencies to target opposition leaders, which he deemed detrimental to democracy.
Abdullah’s remarks underscore the complexities of electoral politics and the role of the media in shaping public discourse, urging for greater transparency and accountability in governance.
