Long pending demand of Bandiporians resolved as Blood Bank finally got Govt. approval

Bandipora, 06 Oct(PTK): After a long wait, the blood Bank at District Hospital Bandipora will start functioning soon as it got the government approval this month.
The approval has brought much respite and will help in improving the healthcare services in the district.
Medical Superintendent Bandipora Dr Mushtaq Ahmad said the machinery is set and the facility will start operations in the coming days starting with a blood donation camps.
According to the order, the District Hospital Bandipora shall be authorized to operate a blood centre for collection, storage and
processing of whole blood ands/or blood components for sale
& distribution.
According to the officials it was a long pending demand of over 10 years which has been resolved by the authorities by inaugurating the Blood bank in the hospital. Prior to this, the locals say almost every section of the society in general and the downtrodden and destitute were facing acute problems with regard to the availability of Blood in the hospital and were forced to travel to Srinagar or Baramulla.
Now with the blood bank in the hospital, different surgeries can be done well in time without shifting patient to Srinagar.
Senior doctor Pervaiz Sajad said blood bank is the lifeline of any health institution, and it is mandatory to equip this with ultra-modern gadgets and facilities to make this important health component more reliable.
While congratulating the Hospital authorities for putting in place such an important facility, he expressed happiness that the added infrastructure will prove quite useful for catering the best medicare and saving precious lives in this important health institution of Bandipora. He stressed the need for best upkeep and usage of this facility by the trained and senior medicos.
Highlighting the importance of blood donation one senior citizen of the area said, “Humanity can be served best by donating blood voluntarily to the needy.” “I salute the enthusiasm and spirit of the youth who turned up in large numbers to raise the issue of the blood bank.(PTK)
