Lok Sabha Election Dates Possibly Revealed This Week: Inside Sources
The Election Commission of India is slated to undertake a crucial visit to Jammu and Kashmir from Monday to Wednesday to evaluate the feasibility of conducting polls in the Union Territory. According to insider information obtained by news agency Press Trust of Kashmir, the Commission is likely to unveil the dates for the Lok Sabha elections immediately following this assessment, possibly as early as Thursday or Friday.
This development follows a directive from the Supreme Court instructing the Election Commission to organize Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September. In response, the Commission was tasked by the Centre to explore the possibility of synchronizing Assembly elections with the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the Union Territory.
“The Commission’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir is a pivotal step in this process. Once the evaluation concludes and the visit wraps up on Wednesday, there is a strong likelihood that the Commission will make an official announcement regarding the Lok Sabha election dates on either Thursday or Friday,” revealed a reliable source familiar with the matter.
As anticipation mounts, political observers and citizens alike eagerly await further updates on the electoral schedule, which will shape the democratic landscape of the region in the months to come.
