LG Manoj Sinha Hands Over Appointment Letters to Over 3,200 Newly Recruited J&K Police Constables
Jammu, May 20 (PTK): Manoj Sinha on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to newly recruited constables of Jammu and Kashmir Police during a ceremony held in Jammu and urged them to dedicate themselves towards safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation while upholding the proud legacy of the police force.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the evolving nature of law and order challenges and terrorism demands constant vigilance and alertness from the police force.
“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant. The nature of law and order threats and terrorism has evolved, demanding a constant, unyielding vigilance and alert to threats that hide in plain sight,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination and teamwork in tackling emerging security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that sharing information, planning strategies jointly and coordinated operations among different agencies are essential for effectively combating terrorism and maintaining peace.
Referring to cross-border terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said India has always upheld values of peaceful coexistence and friendship, but continues to face challenges from a neighbouring country known globally as a source of terrorism. He urged the newly recruited constables to remain committed towards eliminating terror threats and strengthening national security.
He further stated that terrorism survives through financial networks and support systems and stressed the need to identify and dismantle every such network using the full force of law.
Highlighting the importance of traditional policing methods, the Lieutenant Governor advised the police force to continue focusing on beat policing alongside modern technologies and surveillance systems. He said strong local policing and public engagement remain crucial for maintaining law and order.
“Each time you put on the uniform, remember that you are adding a proud chapter to its legacy. Take pride in the ideals of defence and service that the Jammu and Kashmir Police embodies, for they define both your duty and your honour,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the efforts of J&K Police in the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaign and commended the force for its strict action against drug smugglers and peddlers.
He said the police have formulated a comprehensive strategy to choke drug supply routes and expressed confidence that the coming days would witness stronger action and significant results against narcotics networks.
More than 3,200 newly recruited constables were inducted into the Jammu and Kashmir Police force during the ceremony.
Among those present on the occasion were Atal Dulloo, Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards Abdul Ghani Mir, Principal Secretary to LG Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, senior police officers, civil administration officials and family members of the recruits.
