LAWDA cleans Merakshah canal from solid waste; demolishes 4-illegal structures in city areas

 

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR : J&K Lakes & Waterways Development Authority on Tuesday launched a drive regarding collection of solid waste in Merakshah channel.

The drive was taken up in collaboration with NGO and was conducted under the supervision of Superintending Engineer Lakes and Waterways Development Authority.

During the drive all solid waste in the channel were removed by the labours deployed there.

The officials at the occasion urged upon the residents residing along the peripheral areas not to throw the solid waste into water bodies especially Merakshah channel which carries a lot of solid waste load to Dal Lake.

Meanwhile continuing its demolition drives in areas falling under LDA, the LAWDA’s Enforcement Wing demolished four structures in several areas.

“LAWDA demolished four structures in Qureshi Mohalla, Hakeem Mohalla Lal Bazar, Fisherman Colony Kohna Khan WFR and Burzahama areas”, the official said.

He added during demolition drives the officials emphasized upon people to desist from raising illegal structures in LDA jurisdiction. He also added that people were requested to co-operate with the department and obtain proper permission from authorities for constructing structures.(PTK).
