Kokernag, August 13 – The fourth day of the intense gunfight in the dense forests of Kokernag in south Kashmir witnessed the resumption of search operations by security forces as additional reinforcements were brought in to track down the militants believed to be hiding in the area. The ongoing encounter has so far resulted in the tragic loss of two soldiers and one civilian, casting a shadow of grief over the region.

The encounter, which began on August 10, has drawn significant attention due to the challenging terrain and the suspected presence of a heavily armed militant group. The area has been cordoned off, with security forces employing all available resources to neutralize the threat. Drones and sniffer dogs have been deployed to aid in the search operation, but the dense forest cover and rugged terrain have made the task exceedingly difficult.

Additional troops were moved to the encounter site early this morning as the operation resumed at first light. The reinforcement is aimed at ensuring that the militants do not escape the dragnet that has been laid around the area. The security forces are exercising extreme caution in their approach to avoid further casualties.

The encounter has already claimed the lives of two soldiers who were martyred while valiantly attempting to flush out the militants. A civilian was also caught in the crossfire and succumbed to his injuries, highlighting the grim reality of such operations in populated and sensitive regions.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and cooperate with the security forces as they continue their efforts to bring the situation under control. The operation is expected to continue until the militants are either captured or neutralized.

The ongoing encounter underscores the persistent security challenges in the Kashmir Valley, where militant activities have surged in recent months. The security forces remain on high alert, with operations across the region being intensified to prevent any further escalation of violence.

As the operation progresses, the entire region watches with bated breath, hoping for a swift end to the standoff and a return to peace in the troubled area of Kokernag.
