J&K Police organizes drug awareness programmes in Anantnag

December 13(PTK): J&K Police in Anantnag organized drug awareness programmes at Bijbehara and Srigufwara as part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and sensitize the community about the harmful effects of narcotics.

The programmes witnessed active participation from local residents, students, youth, civil society members, and shopkeepers. Officers from Anantnag Police addressed the gatherings and highlighted the severe physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse, particularly among the younger generation. The speakers emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in identifying, reporting, and preventing drug-related activities in society.

Participants were also informed about various preventive measures, legal provisions under the NDPS Act, and the role of parents, teachers, and community elders in guiding youth towards a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The police encouraged people to share information related to drug trafficking and abuse with law enforcement agencies, assuring strict confidentiality.

J&K Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society through sustained enforcement, awareness campaigns, and community engagement. The programmes concluded with an appeal to all sections of society to join hands with the police in making Anantnag a drug-free district.(PTK)
