J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau Launches Probe into Alleged Disproportionate Assets of Former PMGSY Superintendent Engineer
The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated an investigation into allegations of Mohammad Ayub Wani, the former Superintendent Engineer of PMGSY Circle Baramulla, accumulating disproportionate assets. According to ACB officials, Wani, who is now retired, is suspected of amassing considerable assets, both movable and immovable, including gold ornaments valued at lakhs of rupees. These assets allegedly exceed his known sources of income, prompting the ACB to take action.
The ACB has registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, citing the omissions and commissions of Wani as punishable offenses. FIR No. 05/2024 has been filed at PS ACB Srinagar, and further investigation is underway.
In a coordinated effort, search operations were conducted simultaneously at three different locations: Wani’s residential properties in Afandi Bagh Rawalpora Srinagar and Railway Colony Nihama Pulwama, as well as a flat in “Ansal Tower” at Sainik Colony, Jammu. During these searches, incriminating materials such as revenue papers and financial documents were seized as evidence.
The ACB emphasizes that the investigation into this case is ongoing, underscoring their commitment to combatting corruption and holding public servants accountable for any unlawful accumulation of wealth beyond their legitimate means.
