Jammu and Kashmir’s Riya Mahajan Shines, Clinches Two Medals at National Powerlifting Championship

The young athlete expressed her hope that the government would encourage powerlifting in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing more girls to embrace the sport.

 

 

She aspired to witness a future where powerlifting is equally popular among girls as it is among boys.

“I believe that if I can do it, anyone can. This will boost self-confidence. My family has been incredibly supportive, enabling me to participate in the national championship,” she stated.

 

Furthermore, she advocated for the inclusion of powerlifting in the Olympics and Khelo India,emphasizing the need for adequate financial assistance for powerlifting athletes. She highlighted that sports enhance self-confidence and physical fitness.

 

 

Recognizing the pivotal role played by her coach, she credited their efforts for her success in the National Powerlifting Championship.

 

 

She also acknowledged her mentor’s significant influence on her life.
