Jammu and Kashmir Records Over 63% Voter Turnout in Three Phases of Assembly Polls

Srinagar, Oct 03: Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a voter turnout of over 63% across three phases of the assembly elections, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The third phase, held on October 1, saw nearly 70% voter participation, surpassing previous turnout figures.
In a statement, the ECI reported a 69.69% turnout for the third phase, covering 40 assembly constituencies. Notably, female voter participation outpaced male turnout in this phase. The overall turnout across the three phases was recorded at 63.88%, a significant increase from the 58.58% turnout in the last Lok Sabha elections.
The ECI facilitated real-time updates of voter turnout through its Voter Turnout App, providing data every two hours starting from 9:30 a.m. on polling days. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K confirmed that all polling parties have returned safely, and the scrutiny process was completed in the presence of candidates and their representatives.
The final voter turnout and total votes polled will be announced after the counting of postal ballots on October 8.
