J&K Police Arrests 4 Drug Peddlers in Anantnag, Budgam and Handwara; Contraband Recovered

Handwara, May 09 (PTK): Continuing its crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested four alleged drug peddlers in separate operations conducted in Anantnag, Budgam and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Anantnag, police during routine patrolling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Larnoo intercepted a suspicious individual at Khrety area. During his personal search, six sticks of charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing around 96 grams, were recovered. The accused was identified as Gh Nabi Raina, son of Gh Rasool Raina, resident of Frimoo Gadol Ahlan Kokernag. The recovered contraband was seized on the spot following legal formalities.

In Budgam, police achieved a major success by arresting two persons and recovering a commercial quantity of narcotics during naka checking at Rawalpora in Khansahib area. One accused, identified as Nazir Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Rehman Ganie, resident of Rakhayee Arizal, was apprehended with 27 grams of charas-like substance concealed in corn husks.

During investigation into backward linkages, involvement of another accused, Mohd Rafiq Khan, son of Abdul Rehman Khan of Arizal, surfaced. Police subsequently recovered around 7 kilograms and 740 grams of charas-like substance from his possession. Both accused were arrested and investigation has been initiated to identify others connected with the narcotics network.

In another operation in Handwara, police apprehended a drug peddler during a high-alert naka operation at Gund Khuru under the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara. Officials said a police team from Police Post Langate noticed a suspicious individual attempting to flee after spotting the naka party. The suspect was chased and apprehended, following which Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus capsules were recovered from his possession.

The accused was identified as Sahil Manzoor Dar, son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar, resident of Maratgam Handwara.

Police said all accused persons have been booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and further investigation is underway.

The police reiterated its commitment towards dismantling narcotics networks and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking, assuring complete confidentiality to informants.
