Foreign terrorist ‘Abu Hamza’ Identified in Rajouri Killing; Rs 10 Lakh Reward Announced for Information
Jammu and Kashmir Police have identified a foreign terrorist, codenamed “Abu Hamza” of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba group, as the perpetrator behind the tragic killing of government employee Mohammad Razaq in Rajouri district. Razaq, aged 40 and employed in the Social Welfare department, fell victim to the attack in Kunda Top village of Thanamandi area. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has sent shockwaves through the community, especially given Razaq’s familial ties to the Territorial Army.
Thankfully, Mohammad Tahir Choudhary, Razaq’s brother and a soldier in the Territorial Army, managed to escape unharmed from the assault. However, the loss of Razaq has deeply affected the community, and his burial on Tuesday marked a somber moment for all who knew him.
According to police reports, two militants affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba stormed the compound of a Territorial Army official in the village, with Razaq being their unfortunate target. Prompt action has been taken, with a case filed at the Thanamandi police station and a thorough investigation underway to apprehend all those involved in this cowardly act of terror.
The identification of the assailant as a foreign terrorist, going by the alias Abu Hamza, underscores the gravity of the situation. Security forces, alongside local authorities, are intensifying efforts to neutralize this threat, particularly in the Rajouri-Poonch region where the incident took place.
To aid in the capture of Abu Hamza, a reward of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for any credible information leading to his arrest. The police have released a poster detailing his appearance, emphasizing his distinctive attire—a Pathani suit with a brown shawl and an orange bag. Abu Hamza, aged 32, is known to operate in specific areas and has been linked to various acts of terrorism.
In a bid to encourage cooperation from the public, authorities have assured confidentiality for informants, pledging to keep their identities concealed.
