17 Shopkeepers penalized, Rs 5.6k fine imposed
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR KUPWARA, DECEMBER 12: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray, the Enforcement team headed by Assistant Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today conducted an extensive market checking in Kupwara Town.
During the inspection of various markets, 17 defaulters (erring Shopkeepers) were penalised and a fine of Rs 5600 was imposed. Moreover 4 quintals of substandard/ rotten vegetables were also destroyed on spot.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers were asked to display Government approved ratelists in their shops and follow Food Safety and Standard Act and Consumer Acts strictly .
The erring shopkeepers were also asked to avoid selling substandard items and warned about strict action including seizure of their shops in case they are found guilty.
