Committee managing affairs of Ziarat Sharief Khiram Bijbehara dissolved

SDM Bijbehara to look after management of Ziarat Sharief

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar:-Government on Tuesday dissolved the management committee of Ziarat Sharief Hazratbal Khiram Bijbehara Anantnag while as SDM Bijbehara has asked to look after the management of the Ziarat Sharief Hazratbal Khiram.

“A committee was constituted for the management of affairs of Ziarat Sharief Hazratbal Khiram, Bijbehara Anantnag vide Government Order No.118/Rev (Haj and Augaf) of 2015 dated 10.08.2015 and various allegations, have been raised over the continuous tenure of the committee constituted, by the local residents of the area, demanding fresh elections to be conducted for selection of a new committee, which will run the affairs of the shrine, SDM Bijbehara submitted a detailed report vide No. SDM/BIJ/21/74 dated 10.04.2021, recommending therein that the elections must be conducted for nominating fresh committee for fixed tenure and recommended for a detailed enquiry into the affairs of the shrine.” reads an order issued by Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, commissioner secretary to Government, a copy of which lies with PTK

“Deputy Commissioner Anantnag vide Order No. 09 of 2021 dated 12.08.2021 constituted a committee under the chairmanship of SDM Bijbehara for examining the accounts of the shrine and the Committee Constituted by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag in its report besides other recommendations has also recommended immediate conduct of elections for the selection of the committee for running the affairs of the shrine.” It added.

“The Waqf Act 2001 has been repealed and Central Waqf Act 1995 has been made applicable to Union territory of J&K and the affairs of the waqf are to be managed by the Board and the committee constituted earlier has now no role to manage the affairs of the Augaf.” It added further.

“In view of the above, the Committee constituted vide Government Order No 118/Rev (Haj and Augaf) of 2015 dated 10.08.2015 is hereby dissolved with immediate effect and SDM Bijbehara shall look after the management of the Ziarat Sharief Hazratbal Khiram, Bijbehara Anantnag including operation of all bank accounts of the shrine till the formal arrangement is made by the J&K Waqf Board.” It added.:-PTK.
