CM Omar Abdullah Tees Off India Golf Carnival 2026 at Royal Springs Golf Course
Srinagar, May 10 (PTK): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday inaugurated the India Golf Carnival 2026 tournament at the iconic Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar.
The Chief Minister officially inaugurated the tournament by teeing off at the golf course in the presence of golfers, tourism officials and dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Omar Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir holds immense potential for golf and adventure tourism and that events like the India Golf Carnival provide an important platform to showcase the region’s world-class sporting infrastructure.
He stated that such initiatives would further strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a premier tourism destination while contributing significantly to the local economy and hospitality sector.
The Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir is home to several renowned golf courses located in Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sidra Jammu, which not only attract tourists and golfers from across the country but also help popularise the sport among local youth.
Among those present on the occasion were Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Gulmarg Pirzada Farooq Ahmed Shah, Secretary Royal Springs Golf Course Haris Ahmad Handoo, Director Tourism Kashmir Syed Qamar Sajjad, organisers and golfers from Jammu and Kashmir and outside the Union Territory.
The tournament is being organised by Innovative Sports Leisure in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department with the objective of promoting golf tourism and boosting the tourism sector in the region.(PTK)
