Chief Secretary Advocates Tourism Boost for Reasi’s Iconic Rail Bridges

Reasi, April 10 (PTK): In a significant move aimed at enhancing the tourism appeal of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today visited the Anji Khad Bridge and the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River in Reasi district. During the visit, he stressed the need to promote these engineering marvels as prime tourist attractions.

Describing the two bridges as architectural wonders with immense tourism potential, the Chief Secretary emphasized integrating them into the region’s expanding tourism circuit. Given their proximity to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Dulloo proposed encouraging pilgrims to include Anji Khad Bridge and the Chenab Rail Bridge in their itineraries.

“This initiative can greatly diversify tourism in the region while acting as a driver for local economic growth,” he said. “It can pave the way for job creation and open up entrepreneurial avenues for the youth of Reasi.”

While interacting with the district administration, the Chief Secretary directed officials to focus on developing tourist-friendly infrastructure around both sites. He called for the establishment of resting areas, guided tour facilities, food stalls, and other amenities to improve visitor experience.

He further underscored the importance of installing informative signage and display boards to highlight the technological innovations and structural excellence of these rail bridges. “This would not only educate tourists but also instill a sense of national pride in the engineering accomplishments of our country,” Dulloo added.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, DC Reasi, SSP Reasi, and senior officials from Northern Railways, civil administration, and police department.

The visit underlines the administration’s commitment to leveraging infrastructure as a means of tourism development and regional prosperity. (PTK)
