Arrest spree, attacks on Kashmiri people triggers shutdown, clashes in Kashmir parts

SRINAGAR, FEB 23 (PTK): Spontaneous shutdown and clashes were reported from different parts of Kashmir valley against the arrest of leadership and attacks on Kashmiri people in different parts of country.
PTK has received reports of shutdown and clashes from different parts of Kashmir valley.
According to reports received from Srinagar, a complete shutdown was observed in Lal Chowk, Maisuma ,Nowhatta and Soura areas of city while as minor clashes were reported from Nowhatta against the arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami leadership and JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik .
Reports of shutdown and clashes were also reported Anantnag district.
According to reports, a complete shutdown was observed in Lal Chowk while as clashes were erupted in Mini-Kadal , Lal Chowk , Mattan Chowk, Kadipora areas of district against trashing of a local resident in Mohali.
Same were the reports received from North Kashmir.
Shutdown was observed in Sopore township of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district against the killing of two militants in Warpora area of town.
Reports of clashes and shutdown were reported from Bandipora town as the rumours of killing of a local militant spread in the area.
According to reports, clashes erupted in Bandipora town as after the news of killing of local militant spread in the area.
However, the police didn’t confirmed the identity of the killed militants in Warpora gunfight .
Tension has gripped across the valley since this morning after the fresh arrest spree. (PTK)
