Army rescues 14 civilians stuck in snow avalanche in Kupwara

Srinagar, 18 Jan (PTK):The Army has rescued 14 civilians who were caught after two avalanches triggered by snow hits Tanghdar-Chowkibal highway of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on tuesday.

An army spokesman said that the Neelum Company Operating Base under Captain Kuljot Singh along with GREF launched a rescue operation as soon as they received information about stranded vehicles with passengers including women and children stuck in snow avalanche on Tanghdar-Chowkibal highway.

He adds The army’s avalanche rescue team cleared the snow and rescued 14 civilians including women, children and a critically ill heart-patient .

Meanwhile the rescued civilians expressed gratitude to men in uniform for timely action and saving their lives. (PTK)
