Altaf Bukhari Targets J&K Govt Over Free Electricity Promise After Tamil Nadu Announcement

Srinagar, May 10 (PTK): Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday criticised the National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir after the newly elected C. Joseph Vijay announced 200 units of free electricity for households in Tamil Nadu.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, the Apni Party president said the elected representatives in Jammu and Kashmir should draw inspiration from the Tamil Nadu leadership and fulfil promises made during the 2024 Assembly elections.

“Lucky are the people of Tamil Nadu who gave their mandate to a leader who stands by his word. Newly sworn-in Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced his first set of decisions, including 200 units of free electricity for every household,” Bukhari wrote.

He further stated that the decision by the Tamil Nadu government demonstrates that welfare commitments can be implemented with political will.

“I wish those elected by the people of J&K in the 2024 elections would take inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s CM and fulfil at least some of the commitments they made during their election campaign,” he added.

In a sharp attack on the ruling dispensation, Bukhari alleged that promises made during the elections were misleading and warned that people would hold leaders accountable for unfulfilled commitments.

“You took people’s votes by making fake promises and tall claims, but remember that these blatant lies will remain in the collective memory of the people,” the statement further read.(PTK)
