Admin assures stern action against illicit Timber smugglers

Ganderbal, Apr 30 (PTK): The deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal has asked the Sub Divisional magistrate to probe the authenticity and incident in which a groups of Timber smugglers are seen ruthlessly cutting the green gold in broad day light.
According to Reports, a video surfaced on social media sites in which a group of Timber smugglers were raising the green gold to ground ruthlessly which took the social media by time and cautioned the admiration to initiate action against the involved.
Officials in the district administration said that the deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal has directed the concerned SDM to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter early and asked to to make the involved face law.
SDM Kangan on being contacted said that there will be zero tolerance towards the employees of forest department if found involved “Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime”, he said.
Locals exclaimed that this has been happening for long now, they said that the green gold has been destroyed by smugglers but for this act concerned forest staff is responsible for loss since they don’t bother to keep a close vigil and seem to be hand in hand with the smugglers.
while the concerned DFO Ganderbal owais Farooq mir told Morning Kashmir that we along with SDM and concerned team visited the spot of chattergul kangan and seized Timber quantity of 19 sq feet.
The SDM Kangan Hakeem Tanveer also claimed that it’s our duty to take such matters in hands , we appeal people not to inspire such harmful acts like demolishing green glory and other ecosystem beauties.
However any individual found involved in such smuggling activities will be strictly punished as per laws, he said.
SDM furthermore said that Police has assured to act as per law against those who indulge in these illegal activities(PTK)
