The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated a probe into allegations of disproportionate assets amassed by a public servant, Manzoor Ahmad Tantray. Mr. Tantray, currently serving as a Professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar, came under scrutiny after his assets were found to be significantly disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Following thorough verification, the ACB concluded that Mr. Tantray possessed substantial assets, both immovable and movable, along with cash deposits in his and his family members’ names. These assets were deemed disproportionate, prompting the registration of FIR No. 04/2024 under Section 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) of the J&K PC Act, Svt. 2006.

With the issuance of a search warrant by the Hon’ble Court, ACB officials conducted searches at five separate locations, including Mr. Tantray’s residential house in Duderhama, Ganderbal, a shopping complex near District Hospital Ganderbal, a rest house in Kangan, Ganderbal, his official quarter and office at NIT Srinagar, and a flat in Sunjwan Bathandi, Jammu. During these searches, incriminating materials such as revenue papers, finance/bank documents, and hard cash amounting to ₹386,650 were recovered and seized as evidence in the case.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing as the ACB continues its efforts to uncover the extent of Mr. Tantray’s alleged misconduct and hold him accountable for any wrongdoing.
