Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu Accorded Ceremonial Welcome in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 7: Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu received a ceremonial welcome and guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, marking the start of his official visit to India. Accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a Maldivian delegation, Muizzu arrived in India on Sunday evening.

 

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the visiting dignitaries at the ceremonial event. Muizzu paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by laying a wreath at Rajghat, with Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh in attendance.

 

The visit is expected to strengthen the long-standing India-Maldives bilateral partnership. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed optimism that Muizzu’s talks with PM Modi would further enhance ties between the two nations. The leaders are set to discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest later at Hyderabad House.
